Helping to improve connectivity is the undersea cables reaching Africa via Atlantic and Indian Ocean while mobile phone innovators have slashed costs. You can buy a daily dose of internet on a mobile phone for cheaper than a banana! 

Google is the lead private sector influence, which as not only improved the access to information such as local maps, newspapers but also includes translation software tackling language barriers through the continent.
